Louise Hutton is one of the very special ingredients that makes Food of Course a fantastic place to learn about food. Louise has an undisputed ability to instil confidence and enthusiasm in all her students whilst making learning great fun.
Louise is a professional cook with over 30 years teaching experience. She trained at the Grange Cookery School in Somerset and having competed her course she embarked on a career of free-lance work, taking her from the wilds of Scotland to working as a chalet host in the Alps. Her travels abroad have taken her to Australia, New Zealand, the Middle and Far East and to many parts of Europe. Louise became principal teacher at the Grange before establishing her own catering company.
Combining her passions for teaching and food, Louise established Food of Course Cookery School in 2000. Louise has a wealth of practical skill and culinary experience which together with her vibrant energy, underpins the success of the school.
Louise is supported by a fantastic team including her husband Roger. Roger has a wealth of knowledge about the local area and is a great tour guide for those students who decide to stay at weekends.
In the kitchen, Louise is supported by Steph, Lucinda and Fran. Steph was a Food of Course student herself in 2013, before going on to set up her own catering company. Lucinda was Louise’s student in 1996, and went on to work in the Alps and in the yachting industry. Fran, who having worked in the City, decided to have a career change, and train at Leith’s before becoming part of a team in a Michelin starred Restaurant.
The administration of the School is conducted by Pip, who is an integral part of all the courses, and keeps Pip’s Pantry well stocked.
The team are passionate about food, flavour and nutrition. Together they have a broad knowledge of food and copious amounts of experience of catering, restaurants and hospitality. They bring enthusiasm and cultural knowledge to our courses whilst introducing you to the flavours and ingredients of European, Mediterranean, Asian and Middle Eastern food.
